Position Summary

We’re hiring a Maintenance Technician to join the Maintenance team at our Coalinga plant. In this role, you’ll help keep our processing and packing equipment running safely and reliably. You will be performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and completing repairs that keep production on schedule. You’ll report to the Maintenance Manager, follow all safety and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, and look for ways to make our equipment and processes better.

What You Bring

  • Safety Mindset: Spot and correct hazards before they become incidents.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose the root cause of a problem, not just the symptom.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable switching gears in a fast-moving production environment.
  • Communication: Explain equipment issues clearly to technical and non-technical teammates alike.
  • Teamwork: Work well with Maintenance, Production, and outside vendors.
  • Time Management: Juggle multiple work orders and still hit deadlines.
  • Continuous Improvement: Bring ideas for doing the job safer, faster, or better.
  • Ownership: Follow through on assigned tasks and report progress without being asked twice.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance inspections and service on plant machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical (up to 480V), hydraulic, and pneumatic issues quickly and safely.
  • Complete welding and fabrication repairs as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Clean, lubricate, and inspect machine parts; identify and replace worn or damaged components before they fail.
  • Document completed work, parts used, and equipment condition in our maintenance work order system.
  • Order and stock replacement parts; keep shop areas, tools, and supplies clean and organized.
  • Coordinate with Production and Maintenance leadership to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption to the line.
  • Support new product start-ups and equipment modifications, including test runs and adjustments.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements & Physical Demands

  • 480V electrical troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Working knowledge of VFDs, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools safely and correctly.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to support production.
  • Able to work indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures (hot and cold) as required.
  • Able to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs; heavier items are moved with proper equipment or a team lift.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, not required.
  • Able to work with outside vendors and contractors as needed.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical coursework in industrial maintenance a plus. Practical experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a food production setting, with strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills. Experience with VFDs, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems is expected. Comfortable working independently, with a team, and as experience grows, mentoring less experienced teammates.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This role is performed in a food manufacturing environment that may include high noise levels, temperature extremes, and dusty conditions, with work performed indoors/outdoors. You’ll regularly stand, walk, climb, bend, and reach throughout your shift, and must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
