SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring that the operations and procedures of the Grounds Keeping Department are efficient and productive in completing assigned projects and duties and in compliance with CGRC standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Interacts effectively with the public and Team Members. Perform excellent customer service at all time. Responsible for ensuring all Groundskeepers’ daily responsibilities and special projects are carried out in an efficient and professional manner and in accordance with CGRC standards of performance. Responsible for the direction of all grounds maintenance by the grounds keeping crew, including the cleaning and maintenance of the outside perimeters of the property, roof cleaning, removal of trash on property, flower and plant beds and lawn areas. Ensures grounds crews’ uniforms, personal appearance, actions, and demeanor represent an appropriate public image. Ensures that equipment, parts, and chemicals are on hand for team members to perform department projects and functions. Ensures that all chemicals used by team members are properly identified and labeled. Ensures that all equipment used by team members is in safe and proper working condition. Assures the proper use of equipment and chemicals in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and in a safe manner. Responsible for proper inventories of equipment, supplies and safety equipment. Assures appropriate fertilizer and water levels are used on grass, shrubs, plants, etc. Responsible for implementing safety programs to ensure team members are provided a safe, hazard free establishment. Trains staff in proper techniques and use of safety equipment, while assuring that the site complies with OSHA and EPA regulations and that team members comply with all applicable regulations. Responsible for Team Member training, development and education. Reports issues relating to Team Member performance, and concerns and makes recommendations to management for proper course of action. Maintains effective working relationships including communications with management and staff. Performs any reasonable request made by management. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the direct supervision of all groundskeeping staff on assigned shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or GED; ground maintenance experience required, including 2-3 years supervisory experience. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and hands-on experience of irrigation systems, including irrigation software and repair of irrigation systems. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in the use of computers using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
