Under the general supervision of the Codes Administration Manager and guidance of the Development Engineering Manager, performs a variety of routine and technical work in the review of building plans, plot plans and permit applications.

Pay: $21.73 per hour

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • ICC Permit Technician certification within 12 months of employment required.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Building Codes, the Unified Development Ordinance and the Design and Construction Manual.
  • Knowledge of construction products, materials and methods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written communications.
  • Ability to use and prepare reports utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, CityView, and other software as applicable.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, GIS maps, right of way/easement information, legal descriptions and land surveys.
  • Ability to use the City’s web based GIS software
  • Ability to provide fair, consistent and timely customer service.
  • Ability to take a positive approach to problem solving and bringing issues to closure.
  • Ability to promote a positive, cooperative and professional and effective working relationship with the customers of the Development Services Department.
