Job Description:

The Driver is responsible for operating motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds and up to 26,000 pounds to include passenger shuttle vans (10-20 passenger capacity), cargo vans and 30-40 passenger buses. These vehicles may be equipped with air brakes. Vehicles are driven for long and short distances to transport and pick-up articles, supplies, materials, and passengers. Vehicles are sometimes driven through congested areas where drivers must exercise caution when backing to load or unload at docks, ramps, or similar locations. Driver assures that cargo is properly located, distributed, and secured, and that vehicle is not loaded beyond capacity. On occasion may operate special equipment such as manual winches and tie- downs.

Requirements:

-  Drivers must possess a valid state driver's license. 

- Driver is responsible for enforcing all safety rules and regulations in accordance with existing Forest Service and OSHA requirements related to personnel, facilities, and equipment. 

- Driver must meet OSHA safety requirements applicable to Contractor and Government furnished equipment. 

- Regular monitor the assigned areas for safety hazards and submit work orders for any needed repairs or maintenance. 

- Operates government vehicles to transport students to and from off-site activities.
