Job Summary: The Diesel Truck Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of equipment including, but not limited to ready-mix concrete trucks, heavy equipment, and pickup trucks to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on ready mix trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose failures using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Repair or replace defective parts on engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and drive systems.
  • Maintain and repair truck-mounted mixers, chutes, water systems, and other concrete delivery components.
  • Ensure vehicles meet DOT safety and emissions standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and inspection reports.
  • Respond to road calls and perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with company and MSHA safety standards.
  • Must adhere to all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment safely at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Technical certificate or associate degree in mechanical technology or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance or repair (OTR, Ready Mix Trucks, or heavy equipment preferred).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Proficient with common shop tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing.
  • Work in various weather conditions
