About the role

The Landscape Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of landscape maintenance, design, and installation projects. This role requires a strong background in horticulture, staff management, budget control, and client relations. The manager will ensure that all properties are maintained to high standards of aesthetic quality and plant health, while adhering to safety regulations and budgetary constraints.

In addition, the Landscape Manager will serve as a key point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships, communicating project updates, and identifying opportunities for enhancements. This role requires a combination of office-based planning and administrative work, along with significant time spent outdoors in varying weather conditions, supervising crews, and inspecting sites.


What you'll do

Operations and Maintenance

  • Develop, implement, and monitor annual landscape maintenance schedules, including mowing, trimming, pruning, fertilizing, pest control, and seasonal plantings
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control, identify necessary repairs, and proactively address potential issues
  • Oversee irrigation systems, including scheduling, repairs, and seasonal winterization/start-up
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and storage of all landscape equipment and tools

Staff Management and Development

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate landscape crew members and team leads
  • Schedule daily work assignments and allocate resources efficiently across multiple projects and/or properties.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, including PPE usage and adherence to local, state, and federal regulations
  • Promote a positive, professional, and productive work environment.


Financial and Administrative

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Procure materials, plants, and supplies, ensuring quality while maintaining cost control
  • Track project expenses, prepare invoices, and maintain accurate records of work performed
  • Develop proposals for landscape design and installation projects, including cost estimates and basic plans
  • Identify and recommend service enhancements or property improvements to clients


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, or related field, or equivalent experience (typically 5+ years) in landscape management
  • Proven experience managing landscape operations, including personnel, budgets, and projects
  • Strong knowledge of plant materials, turf management, arboriculture, pest and disease identification, and water conservation practices
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and navigate various terrain
  • Valid state-issued Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Applicable state license for pesticide/herbicide application
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
