Position Overview: 

The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation is seeking a detail oriented and service focused Office Associate to join our team. The Office Associate serves as the FOIA Coordinator for Zone 6, managing all FOIA requests and responding to inquiries across mail, phone, and email within required deadlines. The role maintains specialized, confidential investigative records and supports Zone 6 as the Alternate LEADS Agency Coordinator. Additionally, this position provides front‑line office support, including receptionist duties, directing communications, and distributing incoming correspondence to staff.  ISP encourages all those who qualify to apply!

Essential Functions

  • Serves as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Coordinator for Zone 6. 
  • Responds to mail, telephone, and email inquiries and retrieves documentation as appropriate and within specified time restraints. 
  • Prepares and maintains complex, highly specialized and confidential investigative records and reports. 
  • Serves as the Alternate LEADS Agency Coordinator for Zone 6. 
  • Functions as office receptionist, receives telephone calls and other communications directed to staff. 
  • Reads and distributes incoming correspondence. 
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience. 
  • Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 45 wpm. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers a minimum of two (2) years' experience of office practices, procedures and programs. 
  • Prefers a minimum of two (2) years' experience of composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation. 
  • Prefers a minimum of two (2) years' experience of basic mathematics. 
  • Prefers a minimum of two (2) years' experience of Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Prefers ability to follow oral or written instructions. 
  • Prefers ability to operate commonly used manual and automated office equipment and perform routine maintenance.

Conditions of Employment

  • Pass the Illinois State Police Background Investigation. 
  • Pass the Illinois State Police Drug Screening.
