We are seeking a detail-oriented Plant Maintenance Mechanic with a specialty in precision rotating equipment. As an R&O Maintenance Technician here at Solstice, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and operational efficiency of our equipment and systems. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining high standards of safety and performance in our operations.
You will report directly to our Maintenance Manager, and you’ll work out of our Colonial Heights, VA location.
In this role, you will impact the success of Solstice by ensuring that maintenance activities are conducted efficiently and effectively, thereby minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Precision Alignment: Perform laser or dial-indicator alignment on coupled rotating equipment (Motor-to-Pump, Motor-to-Gearbox) to meet industry-standard tolerances.
- Vibration Mitigation: Diagnose and correct soft-foot conditions and baseplate issues to ensure smooth operation.
- Mechanical Rebuilds: Overhaul centrifugal/positive displacement pumps and industrial gearboxes.
- Systems Maintenance: Maintain and troubleshoot complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems.
- Proactive Monitoring: Use thermography and basic vibration analysis tools to monitor equipment health.
- Perform Line Breaks: Execute safe line breaks on process piping and pump heads; manage flange separation, surface prep, and gasket replacement.
- Torque & Tensioning: Reinstall components using calibrated torque wrenches and strict cross-pattern (star) bolting sequences to ensure zero-leak startups.                         Â
- Confined Space Operations: Lead and participate in Permit-Required Confined Space Entries (tanks, vessels, pits) following all atmospheric testing and hole-watch protocols.
- Hazardous Materials: Safely handle and contain hazardous chemicals during equipment teardowns, ensuring full compliance with SDS guidelines and environmental regulations.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in tight spaces, at heights, and lift 35 lbs.Â
- Woking at Heights: Must be able to work at higher elevations and has Fall Protection training.
