The Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, efficient, and high-quality perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient orthopedic procedures. This role supports pre-operative assessment, intra-operative coordination, and post-anesthesia recovery, ensuring exceptional patient experience, clinical quality, and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced surgical environment. |
To be successful in this role, the qualified individual may be asked to perform any of the following areas: Pre-Operative Care - Perform pre-operative patient assessments, including medical history, medication reconciliation, and surgical readiness
- Prepare patients for surgery, including IV initiation, pre-op medications, patient education, and verification of surgical consents
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff to ensure efficient case flow
Intra-Operative Support - Assistwith room turnover and case preparationin accordance withsterile technique and infection-prevention standards
- Support anesthesia and surgical teams as needed to ensure patient safety and procedural efficiency
- Adhere to time-out procedures and Universal Protocol standards
Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU) - Monitor patients during recovery from anesthesia, assessing vital signs, pain levels, neurovascular status, and surgical sites
- Administer medications and interventions perordersand ASC protocols
- Recognize and respond promptly to post-operative complications or changes in patient condition
- Provide discharge education and instructions to patients and caregivers
Documentation & Compliance - Accurately document all patient care, assessments, medications, and interventions in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Ensure compliance with ASC policies, CMS Conditions for Coverage, AAAHC/Joint Commission standards, and state regulations
- Participate in chart audits, quality reviews, and regulatory surveys
Quality, Safety & Teamwork - Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, and patient-centered care
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, infection-control practices, and performance metrics
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers,surgicaltechs, and administrative staff
