Eligible employees may also participate in a company-sponsored retirement plan.   Role Overview The Legal Assistant supports in-house counsel, paralegals, and executive leadership by handling legal workflow coordination, routine legal research, litigation file tracking, and initial document preparation. Operating under general supervision, this role serves as a bridge between administrative legal secretaries and technical paralegal functions. The position requires operational knowledge of mortgage lending processes, strong organization, and the ability to apply company policies, checklists, and business directives to daily legal operations.   Essential Duties Provide direct workflow and operational support to in-house attorneys and paralegals across litigation, contracts, licensing, corporate governance, and compliance. Maintain legal record databases, litigation files, and corporate governance documents in centralized file management systems. Assist in drafting standard legal correspondence, management resolutions, lease documents, and customer advice responses using established templates and checklists. Track litigation deadlines, log service of process, and maintain routine status updates on active legal matters for counsel and paralegal review. Organize and maintain company policies in electronic formats to ensure accessibility, consistency, and proper recordkeeping. Process department invoices, track legal expenditures, and coordinate vendor communication. Perform basic legal and internet-based research to assist counsel with regulatory, licensing, and business inquiries. Schedule meetings, coordinate deposition schedules, manage attorney calendars, and arrange travel logistics. Protect proprietary corporate, client, and borrower information to ensure strict confidentiality. QualificationsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Working knowledge of legal procedures, document management systems, and office operations. Practical understanding of mortgage lending, real estate, loan servicing, or banking operations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, file management applications, and online research platforms. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills with high attention to detail. Clear written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to work independently on routine matters and escalate complex legal issues appropriately. Prior experience working within a corporate legal department, law firm, mortgage company, or financial institution strongly preferred.   Physical & Mental Requirements This role requires a proactive and adaptable mindset. You should be comfortable managing multiple tasks at once. You should be comfortable maintaining confidentiality with sensitive information. The position is primarily a sedentary one, involving prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
