Job DetailsJob Location: Colorado Springs Pikes Peak Location - Colorado Springs, CO 80909Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $18.10 - $20.82 HourlyPOSITION SUMMARY: This Culinarian is responsible for preparing and providing meals for all functions of RMHCS as directed by the Food Services Manager.   MISSION: Improving lives, Optimizing wellness, Promoting independence   COMPETENCIES: Technical Expertise Problem Solving Teamwork Effective Communication Results Oriented Personal Credibility Quality Focus People Focus Flexibility     RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food handling practices Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling or piercing with utensils Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment Portion, arrange and garnish food and serve to patrons Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters Substitute or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods Bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods Wash, peel, cut and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare for consumption Estimate expected food consumption Bake breads, rolls, cakes and pastries Prepare relishes and hors d’oeuvres Clean food preparation areas Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards Other duties as requested/assigned Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Minimum of 1 year experience in food service industry Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Food Handler's License (or Food Handler's Card/Certificate) prior to start date; maintenance of current certification required throughout employment Must possess a valid, current Colorado Driver's License with a driving record in good standing and in compliance with Company policy; valid personal automobile insurance must be maintained throughout employment Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers Basic computer skills to include sending and receiving emails Working knowledge of large-quantity meal preparation, menu planning, and routine reporting to the Head Chef required Position may require driving between day center locations to transport meals or other items Must be flexible to rotate across Explorer, Pikes Peak, and Quail Lake Day Center locations; all shifts originate and conclude at Pikes Peak   We strive to provide our employees with a comprehensive and affordable benefits package including Medical and Prescription Drug, Dental, Vision Care, Wellness Program, Telemedicine Program, Flexible Spending Accounts, Health Savings Account, Company Paid Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment, Company Paid Long-Term Disability, Voluntary Life Insurance, Voluntary Short-Term Disability, Accidental Injury Insurance, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, 403(b) Savings Plan, Legal Shield and IDShield, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Paid Time-Off plan.  Such benefits are based on applicable state law and factors such as pay classification (full-time, part-time, or PRN/casual), job grade and length of service.
