Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking a Network Monitoring Technician 2 to fill the position of System Operator supporting the Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Systems Integration Test and Readiness (SITR) program in support of the Missile Defense Agency located at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs. This role is located on-site with no option for remote work and involves rotating 24x7 shift work on a 365-day schedule. The GMD SITR program is a critical part of the nation’s layered Ballistic Missile Defense System providing the capability to engage and intercept long range ballistic missiles during midcourse flight. Responsibilities include supporting 24x7 operations of the GMD Fire Control and Communications Network components, executing system startup, configuration, monitoring, health & status reporting, initial troubleshooting, operating and managing LAN and WAN performance, using SolarWinds and other tools to monitor and report faults, configuring router and switch interfaces, participating in asset and system transitions, assessing and reporting anomalies, and interfacing with military, government, and industry customers. Additional duties include workstation and server log management, assisting Field Engineers and System Administrators, maintaining system log archives, recording events in shift logs and trouble tickets, adhering to processes and procedures, and responding to schedule changes to support mission requirements. Basic qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, 2 years relevant experience, DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security+), active DoD Secret clearance with eligibility for Top Secret, ability to work rotating shifts, basic computer skills, strong work ethic, problem solving, communication skills, and ability to work independently and in teams. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with GMD program, networking fundamentals, Cisco IOS, Linux/UNIX commands, Microsoft Windows, SolarWinds Orion, VMWare ESXi, Active Directory, information security best practices, and travel up to 10%.
