Your Impact at Empire   

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for managing the end-to-end purchasing and trade partner procurement process, including bid solicitation, pricing analysis, contract administration, and system management to support profitable and efficient homebuilding operations. They will partner closely with trade partners, land, construction, and leadership teams to drive cost savings, maintain accurate pricing and specifications, and ensure operational readiness for new and existing communities.

 

This role is located in the Colorado Springs division office located at 13737 Struthers Rd, St 200, Colorado Springs, CO 80921.

 

What We Are Looking For

  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Business, Accounting, or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in the new home/residential construction industry; specifically within the purchasing or estimating function
  • Knowledge and experience in Builder Accounting and Purchasing software systems (NewStar, BuildPro, JD Edwards)
  • Knowledge of construction trades and building materials, thorough in plans reading, understanding and knowledge of the entire residential construction process

 

Bonus If You Have These Skills

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, Excel
  • Strong technical acumen in determining requirements for takeoffs based on plans

What You’ll Be Doing Each Day   

  • Manage the full bid process, including preparing bid packages, evaluating proposals, conducting bid comparisons, and securing competitive pricing from trade partners.
  • Develop, maintain, and administer price agreements, trade contracts, vendor records, and onboarding documentation to ensure compliance and project readiness.
  • Build and maintain strong trade partner relationships while supporting negotiations, performance evaluations, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Monitor and maintain base plan and option pricing, ensuring profitability targets are met and all pricing data remains accurate and up to date.
  • Oversee purchasing systems and data integrity within FAST/Newstar and BuildPro, including option creation, pricing updates, and rebate management.
  • Maintain accurate builder specifications, feasibilities, construction plan revisions, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate plot plan approvals, model home processes, and purchasing support for community startups, openings, and relaunches.

The anticipated compensation range for this position is $65,000-$85,000 annually. The rate offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of relevant job experience, years of experience within the required industry, education, work location, etc. Empire Homes is a multi-state employer and the salary ranges indicated herein may not reflect positions located in other states.
