Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:      
The School Social Worker role is designed to provide individual, group, and family therapy to clients within the Southgate School. Additionally, will have the primary responsibility for treatment and discharge planning and interface with community agencies and referral sources throughout the client's course of treatment.

Qualifications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:         
*Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.      
*Frequently stands, walks, kneels, reaches while working with patients/residents/students.   
*Requires full range of body motion including handling and physical restraint of patients.   
*Ability to perform CPR and first aid.        
*Ability to work rotating shifts. Ability to drive a vehicle if necessary.    
*Must be able to speak, read and write.       
*Ability to visually supervise students & hear requests for assistance from students and staff.   
*Emotional stability necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.    
*Vision and hearing sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.    
SKILLS:           
Requires strong organizational and communication skills, working knowledge of personal computer, ability to maintain confidentiality. Able to complete required paperwork according to established protocol and regulatory agency requirements. Must be able to maintain professional and appropriate boundaries with clients and families.  Ability to act professionally in high stress situations. The ability to provide timely data needed for students IEP goals and attend students monthly staffing's, IEP meetings, school meetings, and other meetings as requested.   
  
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:         
Prefer Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Masters Social Worker (MSW) and hold School Social Worker (SSP) license or be eligible, in the state of Colorado in good standing with Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited school.  Also requires CDE licensure current Colorado Department of Education Provisional Special Services Licensure (PSSL) with the School Social Worker Endorsement. One year clinical experience working with children and adolescents preferred.   
STAFF DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS:        
Must meet or exceed hospital and regulatory agency training requirements.
