Job Summary


This position exists to oversee productivity and quality expectations and to ensure production schedules are met. This is a second shift position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead a team of ~14 automated equipment operators on 2nd shift
  • Follows established procedures and approved supervisory processes
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information, which will dictate the manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities to be employed
  • Ensure that operators are working safely, as well as meeting production, quality, and cost targets
  • Administer and execute policies, procedures, and practices that affect supervised employees
  • Relentlessly drive improvement of the operations under their purview using Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement strategies, as well as by partnering with Engineering
  • Schedule production for high-quality, on-time/in-full delivery to the customer.
  • Play an integral role in creating a department that balances individual accountability with a fun, achievement-oriented, collegial environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned



Education

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or higher desirable)
  • Lean or Six Sigma Yellow Belt (or equivalent) required; Green Belt preferred


Experience

 

  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive and relevant supervision experience in a related field such as manufacturing, medical devices, industrial, aerospace, or automotive

  • Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing process experience

  • Strong leadership experience in diverse manufacturing environments

  • Experience with complex scheduling


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Good leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to determine the scheduling and line placement of various assembly work orders using available business information
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and tool designs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems at their root, independently or as part of a team
  • Understanding of continuous improvement practices, and able to lead others to complete improvement projects
  • Ability to delegate duties as needed



Physical Requirements
  • Employees are occasionally required to stand.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk. 

  • This position is mainly sedentary; Therefore, required to sit.

  • Employee regularly required to talk to others and to hear their responses. 

  • Occasionally will need to bend, stoop and squat. 

  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or moving up to 25 pounds. 

  • Required to reach with hands and arms to handle documents and products.

  • Must be able to enter data into a computer by use of a keyboard and mouse and be able to sit for long periods at his/her desk as well as occasionally visit employees throughout the building to gather data and clarify information.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job are those necessary for clearly reading printed material and information printed on a computer screen. 

  • Position requires the ability to think and respond at the level necessary to execute the position’s essential functions.

The work environment conditions are typical of both an office and a manufacturing environment.
