ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

Responsible for the overall direction of assigned production shift at a continuous casting facility including production, safety and inventory control.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilities/Process Engineering

 

Shift schedule: Rotating 12-hour shift (7pm-7am)

  • Supervises the concast crew on night shift including job assignments, maintenance, training, safety and quality activities.
  • Actively participates in safety, productivity and quality initiatives.
  • Provides leadership on assigned shift, trouble shooting processes and championing efforts toward overall plant objectives; conducts internal investigations and grievance meetings as required and provide information and documentation as required to plant management.
  • Responsible for all compliance activity (Safety Champion) in assigned functional safety areas; Ensures compliance on assigned shift with all Company policies and procedures; Ensures shift activities comply with all established SOP's; Ensures compliance with ISO standards in assigned areas.
  • Participates in and conforms to the requirements of the Safety Management Systems.
  • Responsible for direct supervision of the Lab Personnel and direct supervision of maintenance personnel on the off shifts.
  • Complies with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures an instructions.
  • Complies with all safety rules and uses all appropriate safety equipment; responsible for security watch on non-production weekends and holidays.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong communications and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate the work force. Must be able to work either an 8 hour 5 day shift or a 12 hour continuous shift that may be on days, evenings or nights. Some lifting required. Ability to stand and walk the majority of the shift. Operate mechanical equipment as required. Ability to conduct safety and training meetings.

 

COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to utilize Windows and Microsoft Office software as well as company specific programs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent. Prefer an Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Management, Engineering or related discipline. 1-3 years in manufacturing environment. Prefer 3-5 years supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated ability to effectively lead a manufacturing shift. Concast experience beneficial
