Accountant III

Accountant III (Hybrid - Columbia, SC)

The Accountant III has several primary and backup responsibilities for the accounting and reporting related to a number of areas including leases, investments, debt, derivatives, internal controls, and other general accounting. Will also assist management and other accounting personnel with operational and accounting expertise. The position is also responsible for testing changes and upgrades for our general and investment accounting systems.

What you’ll do

• Lessee and Lessor accounting and reporting.
• Process investment activity in the investment accounting system.
• Balance payments received to source data.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations. Analyze and resolve reconciliation items as they arise.
• Assist with the automation of processes to gain efficiencies.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly regulatory and management reports accurately and in a timely manner. Record any necessary adjustments to Financial Reporting data.
• Prepare quarterly reports for Financial and Regulatory Reporting.
• Process debt and derivatives activity in the investment accounting system, as necessary.
• Research and analyze monthly variances ensuring accurate variance explanations are submitted on the second business day for management review.
• Assist in testing and validating system changes related to internal controls.
• Assist with internal control testing and audit requests from both internal and external auditors.

What you'll need 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 3-7 years of relevant accounting/banking experience
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of automated accounting systems
• Skillful at gathering and analyzing information. Ability to exhibit sound and accurate judgment
• Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and related accounting practices
