Job DetailsJob Location: COLUMBIA, SC 29208Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: Bachelors DegreeSalary Range: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 Salary/yearJob Title            Assistant Director of Development    Department    Development / Major Gifts   Reports To        Chief Development Officer Compensation: $55,000-$60,000 Position Overview: Assistant Director of Development for the Gamecock Club. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, responsible for generating funds through private support to benefit the Athletics master plan. Develop and present comprehensive proposals for individuals, corporations, foundations, etc. Key Responsibilities Qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects who are targeted for gifts from $25K – $100K+ to be donated to support athletics facilities and program initiatives. Assist the CDO with internal capital campaign initiatives and sport-specific giving programs, including but not limited to volunteer recruitment and management, marketing materials, campaign event planning and attendance, financial reporting, donor stewardship, etc. Manage a portfolio of approximately 100 donors/prospects who are at different stages in their ability to make a 1-5-year campaign commitment (or up to 10 years depending on gift size/commitment). Execute an average of 16 substantial in-person meetings per month that attempt to move potential donors closer to making a commitment, with a goal of 160 visits annually. Fully participate in the University’s prospect management system, documenting all call activity and applying for relationship status w/ donors through the central development office’s Blackbaud database. Represent the Department of Athletics in a positive fashion by interacting well with donors, fans, alumni and community members at game days and various events. Maintain institutional integrity through compliance with NCAA, SEC and USC policies, rules and regulations.  Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the CDO, Key Competencies   Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Experience coordinating and executing marketing and communication initiatives. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.   Work Environment Position is based on-site at the Gamecock Club, on University of South Carolina Campus, 1304 Heyward Street, Columbia, SC 29208. Position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, and stooping. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and assist with event setup and breakdown. Requires effective verbal and written communication, including speaking, hearing, and computer use. Evening, weekend, and occasional travel throughout South Carolina may be required to support Gamecock Club and Athletics events.      QualificationsQualifications Bachelor’s degree + 1 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer experience related to development / fundraising, preferably in collegiate or professional sports environment, and familiarity with ticketing software.
