Purpose:
The Production Supervisor is responsible to provide leadership to the team in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, costs related to operating a production shift in the milk plant.
Essential Responsibilities:
- All plant personnel have the responsibility to monitor and report any deviations from our Food Safety and Food Quality (HACCP & SQF) programs to your immediate supervisor.
- Take ownership and provide leadership for production, warehouse, receiving, and supervisory crews.
- Ability to coach and lead work teams to achieve performance, quality, cost, and service goals.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, practices.
- Administrative duties related to supervising a production block.
- Design, monitor and maintain a safe working environment.
- Cultivate a positive and innovative work environment.
- Strive for fast, continuous systematic planned improvement.
- Direct Quality and Maintenance personnel as needed.
- Train all employees in the areas of safety, food quality, HACCP, Food Safety including CCP’s and specific job functions.
- SQF Support – Responsible for development, training, implementation and compliance to the SQF program.Â

Knowledge & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Engineering or Business preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years professional experience as a supervisor or frontline leader.
- Prefer experience in UHT or UP dairy products.
- Experience implementing/exposure to World Class Manufacturing, TPM and/or Lean philosophies.
- Experience preferred in UHT/UP processing with HTST experience a plus.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for food processing, dairy preferred.
- Knowledge of Organic Standards for food processing.
- Detail oriented, team member, team leader and experienced in team problem solving.
- Strong, honest work ethic with ability to handle multiple tasks daily.
- Ability to provide organization to all plant activities.
- Ability to identify the right problem and develop correction action.
Physical Requirements:
Must possess the physical ability to work the entire shift on the plant floor working in a cool, wet environment with temperatures ranging between 34-38 degrees will be a requirement. Standing, walking, climbing, repetitive bending, repetitive stooping, repetitive reaching with arms and repetitive grasping with hands and fingers. Must have the ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced environment working around production machines, warehouse equipment, forklifts, large trucks and tankers.Â
