Job DetailsJob Location: Columbia, SC 29207Salary Range: $22.49 - $22.49 HourlyJob Title: General Maintenance Worker Location: Fort Jackson Medical Treatment Facilities (Moncrief), Columbia, South Carolina Job Type: Full-Time General Summary: Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, and masonry work. Performs preventive maintenance requirements on equipment as it pertains to the position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Uses plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings. Performs minor repairs or replacement to concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks. Replaces damaged paneling and floor tiles. Hangs doors, installs door locks, and replaces broken windowpanes. Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery. Performs touch-up painting or patching of walls. Works with team members to maintain the upkeep of the facility grounds. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements: GED or High School Diploma. Minimum of 3 years' experience performing general maintenance work in a commercial facility. Experience working in both indoor and outdoor building environments. Experience hanging doors, installing door locks, and replacing broken windowpanes preferred but not required. Ability to understand verbal or written direction from a lead, supervisor, or other craftsmen. Obtain and maintain required certifications. Work Environment: Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions. Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable.
