The Budd Group is seeking a dynamic, self-driven Regional Accountant to anchor our financial operations in the Columbia region. In this pivotal role, you will go beyond standard data entry to manage the region's entire financial portfolio, serving as a trusted financial partner to our field branch and operations managers. 

 

Pay: Competitive Pay

What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities

This position is strategically designed for growth, offering a clear path to step into a leadership role within your first year to manage and mentor future accountants. Warning: A fantastic sense of humor is strictly required here—we work hard, support each other like family, and believe that a day without a shared laugh is a day wasted! 

  • Execute the comprehensive month-end close process with high precision and efficiency.

  • Manage the specialty services team's financial portfolio, including job reviews and tracking progress against tight deadlines.

  • Prepare and deliver accurate weekly financial forecasting reports.

  • Lead weekly forecast presentation calls with the executive leadership team.

  • Partner with branch and operations managers to clearly communicate financial principles, handle inquiries, and explain concepts like accruals.

  • Navigate and master our multi-system financial landscape (including Coupa and NetSuite) to ensure seamless data flow and accuracy.

  • Maintain a benchmark of 95% to 100% data entry accuracy across all job numbers and general ledger accounts.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is highly preferred.

  • Experience: Proven experience in corporate accounting, job-based accounting, or financial analysis (mid-level experience preferred; this is a "Morgan plus one" level role).

  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of core accounting principles (accruals, general ledger, and forecasting) and high technical aptitude for learning complex software systems.

  • Soft Skills: Outstanding communication and people skills, with the confidence to lead Google Meetings and guide cross-functional teams.

  • Core Competencies: Exceptional attention to detail, strong self-motivation, and an independent problem-solving mindset (you are resourceful and love finding the answers).
