Teller I Role:

 

To assist customers with their financial transactions, involving paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments.

 

Teller I Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

 E 55% Receives and processes customer financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments; except for drive-thru tellers, sells cashier's checks to customers; transfers amounts from customer   account as directed.

E 15% Answers customer inquiries and recommends appropriate products and services; makes referrals to appropriate bank personnel.  

E 10%  Balances cash drawer and daily transactions; keeps currency in drawer within currency limits; sells excess currency to vault teller.

E 5%  Prepares and sends work for imaging/processing.

E 5%  Makes reports of large currency transactions and reports any suspicious activity to supervisor.

N 5%  May be responsible for ATM settlement and processing of ATM deposits.

N 5%  Performs other duties as assigned.

To maintain the confidentiality of customer and any other sensitive information.

To be punctual and have regular attendance.

4.

To provide friendly, professional, personal service to all customers.

5.

To maintain a professional work environment and a businesslike appearance.

6.

To meet the bank's standards for balancing, transaction volume, errors, and cashing checks according to policy.

7.

To complete required training and undertake additional training as needed to increase job knowledge and maximize productivity.

8.

To develop and maintain a positive and productive working relationship with branch staff.

9.

To acquire and maintain a working knowledge of regulations and bank procedures; to comply with the provisions of the Bank Secrecy Act and other laws and regulations.

 

Teller I Knowledge and Skills:

 

Experience

One month to twelve months of similar or related experience. 

 

Education

A high school education or GED. 

 

Interpersonal Skills

Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (Customers or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information. 

 

Other Skills

Ten key calculator and computer keyboard by touch. Must be good with detail to deal with numbers and names. 

 

Physical Requirements

The person in this position of Teller I needs to frequently move about inside the office to interact with associates or clients and access office machinery and file cabinets. The person in the position constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, photocopier, and printer. Position requires standing for extended periods; may require stooping and lifting coin trays and bags. 

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as calculators, computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines.
