About The Role:

As an External Affairs Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping how our company engages with state and federal policymakers, regulators, and industry partners. You’ll track legislative and regulatory activity, help develop advocacy strategies, and ensure our internal teams stay informed on issues that impact our business and the customers we serve. This role is a blend of strategic thinking, relationship-building, and clear communication, with opportunities to represent the company before government bodies and industry organizations. Significant travel is part of the role as you work to build and maintain strong external partnerships.

Here’s a snapshot of what you’d be doing:

  • Managing and executing external affairs strategies by partnering closely with internal business units on federal, state, and local issues that matter to the company.

  • Monitoring proposed state and federal legislation and regulations, identifying potential impacts, and working with the external affairs team to shape response strategies.

  • Collaborating with state and federal government relations consultants to align advocacy efforts and priorities.

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with government officials, industry associations, trade organizations, and key business partners.

  • Advocating for the interests of the company, its customers, and its stakeholders before legislative, regulatory, and executive bodies.

  • Staying up to date on company policies, industry guidelines, and applicable laws to ensure compliance and informed advocacy.

  • Pitching in wherever needed to support the team and strengthen our culture, excluding licensed activity.

  • Traveling up to 20 percent of the time to support relationship-building and advocacy efforts.

  • Required experience in government affairs, state or federal agencies, and/or congressional or state legislator staff.

About You:

  • You bring experience in government affairs, public policy, regulatory work, or time spent within state or federal agencies, congressional offices, or legislative staff roles.

  • You have around 3 to 5 years of experience in government affairs, with financial services experience being a plus.

  • You’re a strong communicator who can clearly explain complex regulatory or legislative topics in both written and verbal formats.

  • You’re comfortable building presentations that inform, persuade, and support decision-making.

  • You use tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment to build trust and foster productive relationships inside and outside the company.

  • You’re able to juggle multiple priorities, solve problems thoughtfully, and thrive in a highly collaborative environment.

  • You show up consistently and can be counted on to get the job done.
