Job Description:

Title: Career Advisor

Classification: Non-Exempt


Scope of Position: The Career Advisor provides individualized career counseling, job readiness training, and employment placement assistance to WIOA participants, guiding them along career pathways.


Essential Functions:

路 Provide career coaching to WIOA customers, including post placement, to ensure their goals are met in accordance with their designed Individual Employment Plan (IEP)

路 Build a professional one-on-one working relationship with customers to aid in eliminating challenges that are hindrances to obtaining and retaining employment. This includes assessment, individualized coaching, and coordination with staff.

路 Design a customer-driven IEP

路 Help customers select appropriate training programs

路 Accurately review, evaluate, and complete required documentation for WIOA registration eligibility

路 Prioritize tasks and document visits and contacts in state system of record

路 Conduct post-placement contacts with WIOA participants that have been exited

路 Coach, motivate, and encourage all jobseekers in advancing employment, training, and retention goals while providing support in resolving issues that may impede successful job placement and retention

路 Ensure jobseekers are job ready by reviewing their resumes and skill sets to meet the hiring standards and needs of employers with available positions

路 Other opportunities as available


Education and Experience Requirements:

路 Bachelor鈥檚 degree preferred, or equivalent experience

路 Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred

路 Possess an educational background to support career coaching decisions

路 Must be organized and able to efficiently handle several tasks simultaneously

路 Demonstrated telephone, problem-solving, computer, and written communication skills

路 Customer service experience required

路 A working knowledge of MS Office

路 Valid driver鈥檚 license and clean driving record required
