SUMMARY: Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metal working dies, cutting tools, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools. Set up and operate various machines, including but not limited to vertical/horizontal CNC saws, OD/ID cylindrical grinders, drills, mills and lathes. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for compliance with all documented procedures and employee handbook.
  • Responsible for the quality and quantity of the finished product.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a working team environment.
  • Responsible for maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Responsible for performing routine Preventative Maintenance on associated equipment. 
  • Responsible for safety, quality, and production with limited supervision.
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, drills, saws, to machine parts and verify conformance of machined parts to specifications. 
  • Identify and use tools for proper sizing.
  • Arrange, mount and secure tooling.
  • Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
  • Examine standard or previously used dies and tools and recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
  • Assist with packaging of materials for shipment.
  • Responsible for any other tasks as needed/assigned by Team Leader.
  • Practice safe working habits and follow safety procedures and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Use measuring instruments within tight tolerance down to 0.0001”.
  • Ability to proceed on work assignments with minimum supervision and direction; assume responsibility for the quality of workmanship, accuracy of dimensions and finish specifications.
  • Should be able to lift to 30 lbs. about 20% of the time.
  • At least one-year of trade school or machining training/experience is desired.
  • Must have basic math ability.
  • Forklift certification and crane experience preferred.
  • Need to be flexible between shifts when needed.
  • Work with complicated drawings.
  • Must be willing to do further education.
