Volt Specializes in placing accounting and finance professional with premier companies throughout the country. Our client has an immediate need for an Automotive Dealership Controller. The Controller will provide hands-on accounting, leadership and administrative support while developing and maintaining strong financial reporting controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, complete and interpret dealer financial statements to management in accordance with GAAP, corporate accounting policies and procedures and OEM reporting requirements
- Manage the daily accounting operations of the multiple dealerships to ensure that all transactions are recorded in accurately and timely in accordance with corporate accounting policies and OEM reporting requirements
- Develop and maintain effective cash management system and keeping the General Managers and senior leadership informed on the accounting trends and cash needs of the respective dealerships
- Performing timely month-end closings and submit required OEM financial statements and management reports in accordance with GAAP
- Manage and safeguard dealerships assets and ensure proper financial reporting controls
- Assist dealerships leadership team in reading and interpreting their financial reports and responding to request for information and assistance in a timely manner
- Work with regional leadership and dealership accounting and sales managers to improve revenue or reduce expenses to meet or exceed budgets
- Ensure compliance with dealership policies and standard operational procedures
Additional Fixed Operations Responsibilities Include:
- Preparing an annual operating budget, goals, and objectives for each department and monitoring the departments performance.
- Working with department managers to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Creating dealership service and pricing policies for approval by the general manager.
- Ensuring that service repairs are performed efficiently and correctly by conducting spot checks on jobs.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Must have at least 8-10 years plus of large company automotive dealership experience with larger accounting team
- Thorough knowledge preparing multiple new car dealership OEM financial statements and demonstrated proficiency with CDK and or Dealertrack (DMS)
- Prior experience as a Dealership Controller out of large platform stores
- Public accounting experience with a national or regional CPA firm (specializing in Automotive dealerships is highly preferred)
- Ability to multi-task, work with various levels of management and manage accounting and administrative staff.
- Demonstrate hands-on technical accounting knowledge of automotive dealership industry
