Job DetailsJob Location: Clark Lane Middle School - Waterford, CT 06385Waterford Public Schools has an immediate vacancy for a team-oriented individual. Waterford Public Schools is seeking a Boys Head Soccer Coach at Clark Lane Middle School effective for the Fall of the 26/27 school year.  The Middle School Boys Soccer Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and managing the boys’ soccer team. The coach will be tasked with providing a safe, educational, and positive environment for student-athletes to develop their soccer skills, physical fitness, and teamwork. The coach must adhere to the school’s policies, league regulations, and ethical guidelines, while promoting sportsmanship and academic achievement.   Waterford Public Schools serves approximately 2,400 students in grades PK-12. Our district is actively seeking to recruit qualified applicants from a diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences so as to promote a diverse applicant pool for administrative, faculty, and staff positions to better serve our students’ multiple identities and to bring a broader range of experiences into our district to continue to enhance the teaching and learning for ALL.  Waterford’s Mission and Strategic Plan guide us as we take action to engage all voices to examine practices, imagine possibilities and create an equitable, diverse community with “Excellence in Every School. Inspiring Every Child.”   The District’s facilities include three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school.  The Waterford community strongly supports the public schools and has high expectations for staff and students.   According to the State of Connecticut Next Generation Performance Accountability System, Waterford Public Schools ranks in the top third of K-12 school districts in the state.  The Waterford Board of Education is a nine-member elected body.   Key Responsibilities: Coaching and Player Development: Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions to develop players' soccer skills and physical fitness. Teach and demonstrate techniques, strategies, and rules of soccer. Provide individual and group instruction to enhance player skills and team performance. Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes teamwork and good sportsmanship. Game Preparation and Management: Organize team lineups, formations, and tactics during games. Manage and direct players during games, making real-time decisions and adjustments. Ensure all players get equitable playing time in accordance with school policies. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all activities are conducted safely, adhering to school, league, and national safety standards. Monitor and enforce compliance with school policies and procedures, including those related to equipment and facilities. Handle emergency situations and administer first aid if necessary. Communication and Coordination: Communicate effectively with players, parents, school staff, and the athletic director. Maintain open lines of communication regarding player progress and team dynamics. Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of player attendance, performance, and injuries. Manage team logistics including transportation, equipment, and uniforms. Skills: Strong knowledge of soccer rules, techniques, and strategies. Excellent leadership and motivational skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students and staff. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Working Conditions: The coach will primarily work outdoors on the soccer field during practices and games. The role may involve lifting and moving sports equipment. Physical Requirements: Ability to demonstrate soccer skills and techniques. Capable of standing, walking, running, and actively participating in practices and games.
