Job DetailsJob Location: Columbus, OH 43215The Central Scheduler is responsible for scheduling patient appointments and collecting accurate personal, financial, and demographic information to support patient registration and care coordination at Southeast. This role maintains patient records, updates information as needed, and gathers additional required data while providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Responsibilities: Schedule and coordinate patient appointments across multiple locations throughout an 8-county region. Obtain and accurately enter patient demographic, insurance, financial, and eligibility information into the electronic health record (EHR) system. Verify insurance coverage, sliding fee eligibility, and other financial assistance information in accordance with FQHC guidelines. Answer high-volume incoming calls and assist patients with scheduling, rescheduling, cancellations, and general inquiries. Maintain accurate patient records and update information as needed to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. Provide excellent customer service while supporting patients with barriers related to transportation, access to care, language, or scheduling needs. Communicate effectively with providers, front office staff, care coordinators, and clinical teams across all counties and locations. Monitor provider schedules to maximize appointment availability and support continuity of care. Support centralized scheduling workflows for primary care, behavioral health, dental, psychiatry, and other integrated healthcare services as applicable. Participate in staff meetings, training, and process improvement initiatives to support efficient scheduling operations across the organization.  Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or healthcare-related training preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in medical scheduling, patient registration, customer service, call center, or healthcare administration preferred. Experience working in an FQHC, community mental health center, or multi-site healthcare organization preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, Medicaid/Medicare, and sliding fee scale programs preferred. Strong computer skills with the ability to learn and navigate electronic health record (EHR) and scheduling systems efficiently. Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work professionally with diverse patient populations. Ability to manage a high-volume call environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Reliable attendance and flexibility to support scheduling needs across an 8-county service area.
