SUMMARY: Utilizes knowledge of the CWW system, GIS, GPS, maps, and electronic line location devices to locate and mark underground water and sewer mains and service lines as requested and per established guidelines and regulations. Works under the supervision of the Line Locator Technician III. Performs heavy manual labor and operates required mechanical equipment. Exercises responsibility for upkeep and preventative maintenance of all equipment used. Much of assigned work is performed alone, with no direct supervision. Attends all applicable seminars and training given by Columbus Water Works. In addition, all other functions and responsibilities as assigned. Employee will be required to perform on-call duties on a rotating schedule. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:

Prepare for daily assignments by loading assigned truck with all necessary materials, supplies, and equipment. 

Cleans and washes vehicles and maintains equipment as needed.

Coordinates with Line Locator Technician III to complete jobs as required.

May interact with contractors and customers as necessary to complete locate requests. Any questions regarding locate requirements are to be raised to Line Locator Technician III.

Performs heavy manual labor as necessary.

Exhibits ability to read and interpret utility maps and drawings as needed.

Maintain locate tickets using computer software (Korterra).

Exhibits ability to understand and implement traffic safety procedures.

Utilizes knowledge of the CWW system, GIS, GPS, maps, and electronic line location devices to locate and mark underground water and sewer mains and service lines as requested and per established guidelines and regulations.

Provides complete and accurate locate ticket response Korterra Software as directed by Line Locator Technician III.

From time to time, this employee may be called upon to perform other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Must have knowledge of the Distribution System and Wastewater Collection System, city streets and subdivisions and construction type activities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be able to obtain Fort Benning Access required. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school graduate of GED is the minimum requirement for position. Possession of a valid Drivers License and a clean driving record is required. Ability to receive CPR and First Aid Standard within one year of employment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, maps and MSDS material. Ability to communicate with contractors and customers as needed.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to draw and read all graphs types.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense to carryout instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
