Job Description:
The Delivery Manager is part of Digital Operations within the Digital & Technology Department at A&F.
Delivery Managers help teams and programs translate business priorities into achievable delivery plans and
create the conditions for work to move effectively from discovery through delivery.
The Delivery Manager works across one or more delivery teams, providing program-level planning,
coordination, financial management, risk management, and delivery expertise across the teams’ portfolio of
work. They connect priorities, capacity, dependencies, milestones, and delivery constraints to establish an
integrated and realistic view of the work.
Delivery Managers pair strong delivery-management discipline with an emphasis on flow, predictability,
efficiency, and continuous improvement. They use delivery data, team insights, and their understanding of
the broader operating environment to identify risks, improve ways of working, accelerate decisions, and
recommend changes that help teams deliver value more effectively.
The Delivery Manager partners closely with Product Managers, Engineering leaders, Business Analysts,
Scrum Masters, Experience Design, business stakeholders, and other delivery teams. Scrum Masters
generally focus more deeply on the health, flow, and execution of an individual team, while Delivery Managers
focus on coordination, sequencing, capacity, financial health, and delivery outcomes across multiple teams
or a broader program.
This role supports the Digital Experience and Services teams responsible for delivering customer-facing
experiences and back-end services across A&F websites, customer applications, and associate applications.
What Will You Be Doing?
Build and maintain integrated delivery plans
ď‚· Create and maintain feature- and initiative-level plans that connect discovery, design, inception,
development, testing, implementation, and other activities required to deliver the intended outcome.
ď‚· Develop integrated views of priorities, milestones, capacity constraints, cross-team dependencies,
assumptions, and delivery risks.
ď‚· Coordinate quarterly and ongoing planning across multiple teams, helping teams sequence work
based on business priority, readiness, available capacity, and delivery constraints.
ď‚· Partner with Product, Engineering, Business Analysis, Experience Design, and Scrum Masters to
ensure plans reflect business readiness, technical readiness, team capacity, and delivery
dependencies.
ď‚· Maintain alignment between team-level delivery plans, cross-team initiatives, program
commitments, and broader business strategies.
ď‚· Revise plans as priorities, capacity, scope, risks, or dependencies change.
ď‚· Use Jira and portfolio-planning tools to create transparent, current, and actionable views of delivery
progress and future commitments.
Improve delivery predictability and flow
ď‚· Monitor initiative and feature progress against agreed commitments, milestones, budgets, capacity
assumptions, and expected outcomes.
ď‚· Identify emerging delivery risks, bottlenecks, aging dependencies, capacity conflicts, and forecast
changes before they materially affect commitments.
ď‚· Facilitate the creation of actionable, assigned, and time-bound recovery plans when delivery is at
risk.
ď‚· Help teams evaluate tradeoffs between scope, timing, capacity, dependencies, and desired
outcomes.
ď‚· Coordinate resolution of cross-team dependencies and escalate constraints requiring leadership
intervention.
ď‚· Use delivery data and team observations to improve forecast accuracy, flow efficiency, decision
speed, and delivery predictability.
ď‚· Partner with Scrum Masters and team leaders to improve the broader delivery system without taking
ownership of story-level execution or team-internal coordination.
ď‚· Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary work, simplify processes, automate manual activities,
and improve how delivery information is produced and used.
Manage capacity, financials, and external resources
ď‚· Maintain consolidated capacity and timeline views across the teams or program.
ď‚· Help teams and leaders understand capacity allocation across discovery, delivery, operational work,
technical health, and other commitments.
ď‚· Identify resource constraints and facilitate decisions regarding sequencing, staffing, scope, or
timing.
ď‚· Manage detailed budget plans, actuals, forecasts, and financial risks within approved tolerances.
ď‚· Manage vendor statements of work, financial commitments, and external resource plans in
partnership with Procurement, Finance, and functional leaders.
ď‚· Support financial reporting, annual planning, quarterly forecasting, and scenario analysis.
ď‚· Communicate the delivery and financial implications of changes in scope, timing, capacity, or
resource assumptions.
Coordinate cross-team delivery
ď‚· Understand initiative goals, impacts, interdependencies, and constraints across business and
technical teams.
ď‚· Establish the appropriate coordination approach for cross-team work, including asynchronous
coordination, delivery syncs, planning forums, or broader program-level collaboration.
ď‚· Connect teams and leaders to resolve dependencies, sequencing conflicts, readiness concerns, and
delivery risks.
ď‚· Serve as a program-level escalation point for issues that cannot be resolved within an individual
team.
ď‚· Maintain appropriate decision, assumption, risk, dependency, and change records.
ď‚· Ensure decisions are made at the appropriate level and with the information needed to move delivery
forward.
ď‚· Help teams navigate conflict using facts, delivery data, business priorities, and clearly articulated
tradeoffs.
Create transparency and enable decisions
ď‚· Provide clear, concise, and transparent communication regarding delivery health, progress, risks,
dependencies, financial status, forecast changes, and decisions required.
ď‚· Translate complex technical and delivery information into language appropriate for business
stakeholders and senior leaders.
ď‚· Facilitate program-level planning, risk, dependency, financial, and delivery discussions with a clear
intended outcome.
ď‚· Prepare participants for decisions by clearly identifying the issue, available options, tradeoffs,
recommendation, and required action.
ď‚· Ensure actions and decisions have clear owners and expected completion dates.
ď‚· Reduce reliance on manual status reporting by improving Jira data, dashboards, automation, and AIassisted
delivery insights.
ď‚· Use reporting and analytics to drive action rather than simply describe delivery status.
Strengthen the delivery operating model
ď‚· Identify systemic issues affecting multiple teams and recommend improvements to processes,
planning practices, tools, governance, or team interactions.
ď‚· Partner with Digital Operations leaders and practitioners to test and scale improved ways of working.
ď‚· Help teams adopt practices that improve flow, predictability, collaboration, quality, and
responsiveness to change.
ď‚· Use retrospectives, delivery data, stakeholder feedback, and operational observations to identify
opportunities for improvement.
ď‚· Share successful practices, patterns, and lessons across teams and programs.
ď‚· Promote a culture of transparency, curiosity, accountability, experimentation, and continuous
improvement.
How Success Will Be Measured
Success in this role is demonstrated through improvements in:
ď‚· Quarterly and initiative-level delivery predictability.
ď‚· Forecast accuracy and early identification of potential delivery changes.
ď‚· Cross-team dependency health and dependency-resolution time.
ď‚· Flow of work across discovery, readiness, and delivery.
ď‚· Timeliness and quality of delivery decisions.
ď‚· Capacity visibility and alignment between priorities and available capacity.
ď‚· Budget and forecast accuracy.
ď‚· Stakeholder confidence and transparency.
ď‚· Reduction in manual reporting and administrative effort.
ď‚· Adoption of meaningful continuous-improvement actions.
ď‚· The ability of teams and programs to respond effectively to changing priorities.
What Will You Need to Bring?
 Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Technology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent
professional experience.
ď‚· Experience in delivery management, technical program management, agile project management, or
technology consulting.
ď‚· Experience coordinating complex initiatives across multiple technical teams and workstreams.
ď‚· Retail, ecommerce, digital-product, customer-experience, or platform-services experience
preferred.
ď‚· Working understanding of software development, systems integrations, infrastructure, digital
platforms, or technology operations.
ď‚· Strong experience with Jira and portfolio-planning tools such as Structure, Structure Gantt,
Advanced Roadmaps, Microsoft Project, or comparable tools.
ď‚· Advanced Excel or equivalent financial-planning and analytical capabilities.
ď‚· Demonstrated experience with budget management, forecasting, vendor management, and capacity
planning.
ď‚· Strong understanding of agile, Scrum, Lean, product delivery, and continuous-improvement
practices.
ď‚· Experience managing cross-team dependencies, delivery risks, integrated plans, and changing
priorities.
ď‚· Ability to analyze delivery data and convert insights into decisions and improvement actions.
ď‚· Interest in using automation, analytics, and AI-enabled tools to improve planning, risk identification,
reporting, and delivery effectiveness.
ď‚· Strong business acumen, leadership presence, planning skills, and organizational judgment.
ď‚· Excellent facilitation, communication, conflict-navigation, and issue-resolution capabilities.
ď‚· Ability to establish clarity and drive decisions when goals, priorities, or constraints conflict.
ď‚· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment.
ď‚· Ability to collaborate with dispersed teams and influence outcomes without relying on formal
authority.
ď‚· A leadership approach grounded in teaming up, building others up, showing up, staying curious, and
collaboratively driving work forward.
