This is aĀ full-time salaried position withĀ Project Farma,Ā a PerkinElmer company. The successful candidate willĀ resideĀ in one of Project Farma's primary markets and beĀ willing to travel domesticallyĀ to meet client project requests.Ā

TheĀ Utilities Engineering ConsultantĀ supports life science clients by providing hands-on engineeringĀ expertiseĀ across HVAC, building mechanical systems,Ā andĀ plantĀ utilities within a consulting environment. While the core of the role is utilities-focused, this position requires flexibility to pivot into Commissioning & Qualification (C&Q) and other engineering workstreams as client needsĀ evolve. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth in HVAC and mechanical utilities, paired with the adaptability and execution mindsetĀ requiredĀ to support projects from design through startup, commissioning, and qualification in regulated environments.Ā 

Key ResponsibilitiesĀ 

  • Participate in and lead technical sessions related to HVAC and building mechanical system engineering and design.Ā 

  • Develop practical, innovative solutions to HVAC andĀ buildingĀ mechanical engineering challenges.Ā 

  • Coordinate and support vendor startup and execution activities, including Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).Ā 

  • Lead and support startup activities for plant utilities, including:Ā 

  • Black Utilities (chilled water, plant steam)Ā 

  • Clean Utilities (WFI, Clean Steam)Ā 

  • Waste and air systemsĀ 

  • Execute the full Commissioning and Qualification (C&Q) lifecycle for utility and facility systems, including the development and execution of IQ/OQ/PQ protocols.Ā 

  • Bridge engineering, commissioning, and validation activities by supporting the transition from vendor startup and construction to formal commissioning and qualification.Ā 

  • Perform field walk-downs and P&ID redlining to ensure ā€œas-builtā€ accuracy during the transition from construction to validation.Ā 

  • Ensure HVAC, mechanical, and utility systemsĀ comply withĀ current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).Ā 

  • Develop, review, andĀ maintainĀ technical documentation, including SOPs, requirements specifications, testing protocols, summary reports, and field turnover packages.Ā 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional client teams to lead and support project initiatives, plans, and workstreams, ensuring high-quality andĀ timelyĀ deliverables.Ā

Experience RequiredĀ 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.Ā 

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Project Engineer, Consultant, or in a related engineering role.Ā 

  • Hands-on experience supporting HVAC, utilities engineering, and/or cGMP facility startups.Ā 

  • Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments.Ā 

  • Ability to work full-time on-site at client locations.Ā 

  • Willingness to travel asĀ requiredĀ to support project and business needs.Ā 

Other PreferredĀ Ā 

  • Demonstrated consultative flexibility, with the ability to pivot from high-level utility design to hands-on equipment qualification and field-side troubleshooting.Ā 

  • Experience with a broad range of utilities, including both:Ā 

  • Black Utilities (chilled water, plant steam)Ā 

  • Clean Utilities (WFI, Clean Steam)Ā 

  • Experience in the design, installation, and qualification of cGMP HVAC systems supporting classified spaces including cascading pressure; filtered, single pass andĀ monitored.Ā 

  • Familiarity with ASTM E2500 and/or ISPE Baseline Guides for Commissioning and Qualification.Ā 

  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in field execution and documentation accuracy.Ā 

  • High degree of technical competence, problem-solving ability, and adaptability in fast-paced project environments.Ā
