Position Summary:

Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP provides business and legal counsel to clients throughout the United States and around the world. The Columbus office of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP is searching for a litigation paralegal who has some experience with asbestos defense litigation. The paralegal will be assisting with management of numerous and varied litigation cases and must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and technical skills. This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level paralegal who wants to be part of a large organization and yet be a member of a smaller dynamic team. This paralegal will work closely with excellent legal practitioners and contribute to large case teams; as well smaller fast-paced matters. 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with managing multiple litigation dockets
  • Operate in a variety of databases for case tracking and document discovery processing
  • Assist in preparation of responsive and dispositive pleadings.
  • Conduct fact research 
  • Assist with document collection, processing and production through internal litigation support department and outside discovery vendors 
  • Request, organize and review employment and medical records
  • Assist preparation of attorneys and witnesses for deposition.
  • Assist with preparation for filings, hearings, trial and post-trial appeal
  • Attendance in trial, hearing and court proceedings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Understanding of legal terminology and principles.
  • Technical competency with MS Office applications and several litigation discovery database operations (ProLaw, Everlaw, Relativity)
  • Highly efficient documenta and information organization methods
  • Exceptionally practiced with interpersonal, verbal and written communications
  • Ability to prioritize multiple work streams while remaining deadline focused.
  • Proven attention to detail

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate from an ABA approved paralegal program or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of law firm experience

The expected pay scale for this position is $31.79–$38.46 per hour (overtime eligible per applicable laws) with an approximate annualized equivalent of $62,000.00–$75,000.00 based on 37.50 hrs./week. Actual earnings may vary. The actual compensation offered will depend on factors such as your qualifications, relevant experience, education, work location, and market conditions.
