The Scheduler - LPC ensures adequate staffing of Nurses and CNAs within the life plan community in accordance with company standards and federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The Scheduler compiles information for payroll and HR for the nursing staff, maintains all records for attendance, organizes and monitors various lists and schedules for the Nursing Department, and provides clerical support for the department.

Essential Activities and Tasks  - 35%

Operations Management and Administration

  • Uses scheduling system to prepare Nursing Department schedule.

  • Adjusts schedule according to staff availability.

  • Keeps the staff current with changes in scheduling procedures and policies as needed.

  • Participates in the orientation, in-services, and continuing education of staff as requested.

Quality and Compliance Management - 35%

  • Uses the computer system to run reports and evaluate data entry accuracy.

  • Edits or reports data entry accuracy problems as needed.

  • Assists in the verification of data entry and payroll processes.

  • Maintains current and accurate staff through the use of an electronic scheduling system by entering employee information and other related details in accordance with company standards and federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations as it relates to the scheduling system.

  • Completes scheduling requirements, minimizing overtime wherever possible.

Communication - 30%

  • Responsible for accurate, timely communication related to scheduling.

  • Prints and distributes staff itineraries as needed.

  • Responds to staff calls in a timely manner related to scheduling.

  • Develops and maintains close working relationships with employees and contract staff.

  • Communicates daily staffing issues/concerns to nursing leadership.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Two years of scheduling experience required.

  • Two years of long-term care experience preferred.

  • Experience with direct patient care preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Working Conditions and Special Requirements

  • Sitting - Up to 8 hours/day

  • Standing - Up to 4 hours/day

  • Walking - Up to 4 hours/day

  • Lifting, transferring, pushing or pulling residents/patients or equipment/supplies - Up to 25 pounds

  • On-call availability - 24/7 for emergencies

  • Subject to residents/patients with various disease processes - Occasional

  • Risk Category for Exposure to Bloodborne Diseases - III
