Researcher 3 - Comprehensive Cancer Center

CCC | Comprehensive Cancer Center

  • Participates in the research of the Cytogenetics Lab in collaboration with the Department of Pathology
  • Conducts experiments and procedures in cytogenetics, molecular genetics, PCR applications, nick translation, tissue culture and growth of YACs and BACs
  • Establishes new research methods
  • Coordinates processing and analysis of research data
  • Prepares research papers
  • Maintains CLIA certification ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Serves as consultant to the principal investigator

Education and Experience:

  • Master's Degree required; Doctorate (desired)

  • Completed additional graduate course work in genetics required

  • Considerable research experience, preferably in cytogenetics, required

  • Knowledge of molecular genetics and classical cytogenetics required including karyotyping

  • Proficiency in FISH techniques required

  • Experience in a progressively responsible administrative capacity desired

  • Computer proficiency desired with knowledge of spreadsheet and presentation software applications

  • Proficiency using web-based databases required

  • Ability to work independently required.
