As a Senior Lead Architect at JPMorganChase within the Enterprise Architecture organization in the Chief Technology Office, you are an integral part of a team that works to develop high-quality architecture solutions for enterprise-scale software applications, platforms, and shared technology capabilities. You help shape future-state architecture and drive strategic technology decisions that support business growth, operational excellence, resiliency, and innovation across the firm. You drive significant business impact and help shape the target-state architecture through your capabilities in multiple architecture domains.
Job responsibilities
- Develop architecture assessment agents to evaluate critical end-to-end business services at enterprise scale
- Represent a product family in technical governance bodies and propose improvements to architecture governance practices
- Leverage enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate architecture analysis and decision-making across the product family, with human-in-the-loop validation and appropriate handling of sensitive data
- Guide evaluation of current and emerging technologies using existing standards and frameworks, influencing peers and decision-makers to adopt leading-edge solutions that improve scalability, resiliency, security, and engineering effectiveness
- Drive architecture decisions that influence product design, application functionality, technical operations, and engineering processes across multiple teams and technology domains
- Develop secure and high-quality production code, review and debug code written by others, and provide hands-on technical leadership throughout the software delivery lifecycle
- Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert and contribute to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide software development lifecycle frameworks and practices
- Establish reuse-first AI-enabled engineering patterns and governance across software development lifecycle and toolchain practices, driving consistency, traceability, auditability, resiliency, security, and engineering excellence
- Provide regular technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on architecture concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages and deep expertise in software architecture, applications, and technical processes within one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, distributed systems)
- Demonstrated experience applying enterprise-authorized AI capabilities in architecture and engineering workflows, with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity
- Ability to evaluate and integrate AI-enabled capabilities into enterprise-grade architectures while meeting resiliency, security, and auditability requirements
- Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
- Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to select or recommend the best solutions for future-state architecture
- Strong judgment, decision-making, stakeholder management, and communication skills with the ability to influence technical direction across teams, architecture governance forums, and senior technology stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale technology solutions with consideration for scalability, resiliency, security, operational stability, and long-term architectural sustainability
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with formal architecture governance frameworks (e.g., TOGAF or equivalent)
- Exposure to modern technology paradigms including cloud, AI/data, distributed systems, platform-based architectures, and enterprise modernization initiatives
- Experience with engineering practices such as continuous integration/continuous delivery, Infrastructure as Code, observability, automation, and modern software development lifecycle practices
- Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, cloud, ITIL, CISSP, or equivalent)
- Track record of driving enterprise-wide initiatives that improve consistency, reuse, efficiency, and engineering excellence
- Experience working in regulated environments, including operational resilience, third-party risk, and governance considerations
