Sr Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality management processes, methods, and documents to ensure that our products and processes meet the requirements and expectations of our customers.

Essential Functions: (Individual tasks, duties and responsibilities of the position accounting for highest % of time)

 

  • Maintain and improve the quality management system.
  • Perform internal audits.
  • Perform vendor qualifications / audits.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis and develop corrective actions.
  • Implement and maintain FMEA.
  • Create and maintain inspection, control, and reaction plans.
  • Create and maintain quality work instructions and procedures. 
  • Creation of quality reports.
  • Manage and track quality related issues. (Internal, Supplier, & Customer)
  • Analysis of statistics and data regarding quality aspects.
  • Maintain communication with other departments.
  • First Article Inspection and PPAP Review.
  • Mentor and train incoming engineers for the QA department.
  • Work with the operations teams to streamline processes between the departments.

 

 

Skills:

  • Knowledgeable in quality standards, APQP methodology, Control Plans, FMEAs, SPC, and PPAP.
  • Strong statistical methods skills.
  • Strong organization, time management, and planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP or equivalent)
  • Willingness to travel (volume of travel will be up to 10%) and ability to work overtime, as needed

Education/Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical, industrial, automotive or equivalent)
  • Experience in the usage of quality management methods and tools
  • Experience in firearms is a plus.
