Role summary:
The (USA) Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services-DOT, is responsible for managing exterior facility operations, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This role involves coordinating maintenance activities, operating heavy machinery, and overseeing seasonal services such as snow and ice management. The technician supports cost control through procurement and warranty claims, leads third-party providers, and maintains vehicle readiness. By fostering a safe, clean, and efficient environment, this position contributes to sustaining facility standards and operational excellence while collaborating with management and stakeholders to implement improvements and uphold company policies.

The Exterior Services team is dedicated to maintaining safe, clean, and well-functioning outdoor environments across Walmart facilities. This team manages landscaping, seasonal maintenance, and equipment operation while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. Members collaborate to optimize facility appearance and functionality, support cost-effective solutions, and uphold quality service. The team fosters professional growth through coaching and development, emphasizing integrity, accountability, and customer-focused results. By working closely with management and third-party providers, the team ensures efficient operations that contribute to a positive experience for associates and customers alike.
What you'll do:

Operate and maintain heavy machinery and powered equipment following safety and certification standards.
Perform seasonal exterior maintenance including snow and ice management to ensure safe facility conditions.
Conduct quality assurance inspections and troubleshoot facility issues to meet operational and safety requirements.
Manage vehicle maintenance, inspections, and documentation to ensure readiness and compliance.
Coordinate purchases, control costs, and submit warranty claims for parts and equipment.
Lead third-party providers, coach associates, and conduct performance evaluations to promote professional growth.
Implement upgrades and improvements to enhance facility sustainability and reduce operating costs.

What you'll bring:

Proven experience operating and maintaining heavy machinery and powered equipment in compliance with safety standards.
Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations relevant to exterior facility services.
Ability to manage budgets, including cost estimation and purchase approvals for parts and equipment.
Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting, quality assurance inspections, and resolving customer concerns effectively.
Experience leading teams, coaching associates, and conducting performance evaluations.
Competence in coordinating seasonal exterior maintenance, including snow and ice management.
Commitment to upholding company policies, ethics, and safety protocols consistently.

The hourly wage range for this position is $19.00 - $35.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...

Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

21 years of age or older.

Valid state-issued driver’s license.

No convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs within the last three (3) years.

No more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years, if driving a commercial motor vehicle.

No serious traffic violations (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor
vehicle.

No preventable accidents (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor
vehicle.

Successful completion of a DOT physical and medical certification pre- hire.

As required by section 391.11(b)(2) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, ability to read and speak in the English language.

2 years’ experience in the landscaping/gardening industry

Able to successfully complete a DOT physical and secure medical certification during pre-hire contingency and be able to maintain a minimum of a 90 day Medical Examiner’s Certification (MEC) card, Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area., Experience in third-party management., Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)., Proficient in speaking and understanding Spanish., State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California, etc).
