OS Platform Engineer Lead

Detailed Description:

The ideal candidate will be filling an experienced position. The candidate must have the following skills:

• Advanced or expert level SMP/E experience.
• Debugging and tuning experience.
• Creation of detailed documentation of procedures and practices.
• Change control in a regulated environment.
• Develop, document, and deliver pre- and post-implementation impacts of zSeries hardware and software.
• Recognize areas of improvement leading to elimination of reoccurring issues and reduce mean time to recovery.
• Provide technical direction and education to programmers, analysts and technical support associates.
• Provides 24x7 on call support within a team rotation.   

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or 10 years equivalent work experience in z/OS
• 5+ years of solid experience in z/OS network engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

• Provide network engineering solutions and support for mainframe hardware and all operating systems running therein. 
• Maintain IP addresses for all mainframe systems. 
• Engage with network engineering teams to install mainframe hardware 
• VTAM/APPN architecture as needed for SNA APIs. 
  • Config/support Enterprise Extender mesh network between LPARs 
• TCP/IP architecture for high-availability and workload balancing. 
  • Work IP subnets for efficient use of IP addresses 
  • Configure DVIPA for HA 
  • Configures OSPF for HA on OSAs 
  • Support OSPF configuration for GDPS-Region-swap 
  • Support OSPF configuration for test versions of LPARs running at remote site on test Ips.  
  • IDAA Networking for admin and data path 
  • Research and maintain an optimal cipher list for mainframe encryption 
    • Work with distributed teams to elevate their ciphers to match good (Quantum safe today) cipher list 
    • Monitor NIST, IETF, and IBM for the availability of new Quantum Safe ciphers and deploy to mainframe operating systems. 
  • Experience with  zOSMF/Network Configuration Assistant (NCA) 
    • TLS rules  
    • IPSec (IP Filter rules) 
      • Used for flash-copy test LPARs at DC2 
      • Used in live LPARs to block offending Ips 
  • Support all tasks under network stacks:  
    • SNMP general Agent 
    • SNMP OSA Agent 
    • CSSMTP – Comm server Mail Client 
    • SYSLOGD – Comm Server logging  
  • DNS Configuration – Work with network engineering to define proper DNS names for all mainframe resources. 

Exempt Status: (Yes = not eligible for overtime pay) (No = eligible for overtime pay)
