Launch your career in transportation planning with our team as a Transportation Planner, Early Career. In this role, you'll learn from experienced planners and engineers while contributing to diverse transportation projects for state, regional, and local clients. You'll develop your skillset across the full spectrum of transportation planning, from data collection and analysis to public engagement and plan development, while working alongside experienced mentors who are invested in your professional growth. This role offers hands-on exposure to multimodal planning, safety studies, and corridor analysis, giving you comprehensive experience across a variety of project types and clients.
What You’ll Do
- Perform safety analyses and network screening, including systemic analysis and site-specific studies
- Apply Safe System Approach (SSA) principles, proven safety countermeasures, and Highway Safety Manual methodologies on assigned projects
- Collaborate and learn from experienced transportation Professional Engineers and Planners
- Contribute to the development of transportation plans and studies, including multimodal long-range plans, thoroughfare plans, bicycle and pedestrian plans, transit studies, and safety plans for state DOTs, MPOs, local governments, and transit providers
- Collect and analyze transportation data, perform traffic analysis, and support solution development across a variety of project types
- Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials for client and public audiences
- Assist with stakeholder and public engagement activities, both in person and virtually
- Work alongside Professional Engineers and Planners on transportation projects including traffic modeling and analysis, safety analysis and traffic forecastingÂ
- Grow and develop skills including traffic engineering tasks, technical skills, project management and business development
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Urban/City/Regional Planning, Geography (urban), or similar; Master's degree in Urban/City/Regional Planning or related field preferred
- Experience in community planning, transportation planning, safety planning, other planning or engineering studies or analysis
- 0 – 4 years of experience in transportation planning, safety planning, or similar
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microstation, GIS, or AutoCAD is required; experience with ArcGIS, Sunchro, HCS, HSM, IHSDM and/or Adobe Creative Suite software preferred
- Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as a proactive approach to problem solving
