Research Technician to assist and communicate with Principal Investigator in management of the research lab and lab experiments. The laboratory works on the mechanical testing and characterization of Materials at Extremes. Research technician assists in the test system setup, programming, and execution of experiments; processes the results of experiments into usable data and extracts materials properties for evaluation; prepares research progress reports; assists with preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters and abstracts; assists in supporting and training other laboratory members and students; manages and maintains laboratory equipment, performs administrative tasks including coordinating lab meetings and safety inspections, maintains expendables; orders supplies and equipment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Material Science, or Equivalent). Minimum Experience: 2-3 years of relevant experience in addition to degree (experience can include undergraduate or graduate research). Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge to research required. Ability to work with other researchers and communicate clearly in a group setting. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen. Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
