The Division of Critical Care Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine is seeking a faculty member to join our team on the clinical educator track. Critical Care Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is a 30-member group with diverse academic and clinical interests. We have a robust pediatric critical care medicine fellowship program and superb clinical infrastructure. The Pediatric ICU at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is a 54-bed multi-disciplinary quaternary care unit with the full array of medical and surgical subspecialty providers. This unit, combined with our 20-bed Cardiothoracic ICU, sees approximately 3,000 admissions per year with outstanding ICU-specific resources for collaborative research. Qualified candidates for this position will be BC/BE in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine with a strong track record of outstanding clinical care, teaching, and participation in clinical and/or translational research. Faculty members of all ranks are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include the provision of clinical care in the pediatric ICU; medical student, resident, and fellow teaching; and publication of scholarly work. The division has 7-day/week on-site coverage with clinical research coordinators as well as divisional biostatistical resources to help ensure the academic success of the faculty. Provides medical care and treatment to patients. Essential Functions: Conducts patient assessments and diagnoses medical conditions. Develops and implements treatment plans for patients in accordance with established protocols. Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as necessary. Orders and interprets diagnostic tests to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment. Communicates with patients and their families to provide education and support. Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient and coordinates care with other healthcare professionals. Participates in the training and education of medical students, residents, and fellows as required. Stays up-to-date with medical advancements and research to provide the best possible care. Education Requirement: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine equivalent, required. Graduate of an approved Fellowship program if applicable, required. Licensure Requirement: Medical License in the State of Ohio, required. Unrestricted licensed physician, required. Certifications: Board Certification or eligibility in Pediatrics, required. Experience: Prior clinical practice experience may be required based on the needs of the division. Physical Requirements: Occasional bending/twisting, exposure to blood/bodily fluids, chemicals, communicable diseases, lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs, loud noises, patient equipment handling, pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs, reaching above shoulder, squatting/kneeling.
