Overview:
A progressive and growing Northern California rice drying and storage facility is seeking a General Manager (GM) to join their team. This position will be responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the primary business of rice drying and storage, in alignment with the policies and objectives set by Board of Directors. The GM is also responsible for securing secondary business opportunities that enable the company to operate at full capacity while supporting long-term strategic plans. The General Manager reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
Financial Management
  • Oversee all accounting procedures.
  • Review monthly income statement/balance sheet.
  • Cash flow/financing/capital budgeting.
  • Profit/Loss analysis.
  • All financial reports to Board of Directors/Stockholders.
  • Cost per cwt. analysis on drying and storage, annually.
  • Economic projections/Special projects.
  • Cost accounting/Review of all A/P allocations.
  • Work closely with accountant on short- and long-term strategy.
  • Review tariff rate structure on annual basis.
  • Any other financial functions to facilitate objectives of the company.
Board of Directors
  • Function as the secretary to the Board of Directors.
  • Organize and chair monthly Board of Directors meetings.
  • Establish agendas and keep minutes (BOD meetings/Annual meeting).
  • Organize and set up special meetings, as necessary.
  • Oversee, organize and chair annual meetings to stockholders.
  • Maintain all stockholder agreements, stock transfers and certificates, as well as all business records.
Warehouse Operations
  • Oversee and manage facilities at two locations (currently).
  • Responsible for nine full time employees, and approximately 25 seasonals.
  • Employee scheduling, wage reviews, cost of living and salary adjustments, general labor relations.
  • Oversee all capital projects and long-term planning.
  • Quality control on all varieties received from harvest through entire storage season.
  • Manage and maintain pool weighted qualities and shipment settlements.
  • Grower relations.
  • Determine varietal mix that best optimizes facility capacity at each facility.
  • Manage harvest logistics which may arise as harvest progresses. Keeping grower obligations intact.
  • Responsible for all government requirements regarding licenses for permitting, chemical use and applications to rice and properties.
  • Responsible for Unified Rice Storage Agreements (URSA) contracts, warehouse receipts, weighmaster certifications, inventory and any other documentation.
  • And anything else that may present itself.
Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Ag. Business Management or a related field, preferred.
  • Three to five years’ experience in related management, preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills to support clear, efficient workflows.
  • Experience applying financial oversight and accounting principles to inform day-to-day business decisions and long-term strategy.
  • Possession of a Qualified Applicator License (QAL) or Certificate (QAC) with a category M (non-soil fumigation) endorsement is preferred.
Compensation:
This position offers a competitive starting salary of $80-100k, depending on experience and qualifications, with bonus potential. In addition, this position offers a vehicle, medical and dental insurance, as well as paid vacation, sick leave, holiday pay, and a 401k retirement plan.
