POSITION TITLE: Registered Dietitian

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:  Per Diem


POSITION SUMMARY

 Monitors nutritional care to patients, including assessments and education. Manages physician ordered therapeutic diets. Participates in interdisciplinary and continuum of care processes, participates in various committees to ensure excellence in nutritional care. Participates in Performance Improvement activities. Comply with the code of ethics of the American Dietetic Association.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a Registered Dietitian. Must have knowledge of foods/nutrition, food preparation/production and instructional techniques. Completion of ADA approved didactic program in dietetics. Previous experience in dietetics.  


POSITION SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

  • Manage and perform resident nutritional assessment and care. 
  • Participate in resident care planning.
  • Visit and consult with new residents and those residents with nutritional problems and needs and follow up as appropriate. 
  • Consult with physicians regarding resident dietary problems.
  • Provide nutrition information and recommendations to physicians regarding resident’s nutritional status in a timely manner.  
  • Document and maintain medical care records as required and consistent with nutritional care standards.  
  • Review and interpret diet orders and modify menus to meet the special (individualized) diet needs of the residents. 
  • Perform nutritional/resident care reviews. 
  • Comply with all local, state and federal regulations.
  • Develop and conduct in-service education programs for allied resident care personnel. 
  • Participate in menu planning or revision. 
  • Maintain regularly scheduled visits with Food Service Manager and department heads in order to improve patient care and service. 
  • Conduct learning activities and educational classes and tools to the kitchen staff for training on various diets. Work with the Food Service Manager for counseling as appropriate.  
  • Communicate with nursing personnel through oral and written reports and recommendations for the nutritional services and plans for their implementation.
