Essential Functions: The para professional will provide non-classroom academic instruction to individuals and small groups to prepare, advance, or remediate students in specific academic areas.

Education:

  • Consults with students, teachers, and school administration to identify academic needs and to follow individualized plans for students.
  • Reviews class assignments, content, or standards; discusses content with student; and re-teaches when needed.
  • Assists students with homework.
  • Teaches and mentors students, continually guiding them toward comprehension of the assigned subjects or lessons.
  • Teaches and models studying, note-taking, and test-taking skills and strategies with students.
  • Researches and recommends supplemental textbooks, computer games or apps, equipment, or other learning materials to further enrich students' academic success.
  • Provides a clean, organized, and learning-conducive environment to ensure that students are encouraged to be productive, focused, and engaged in learning.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all records and conversations regarding students' academic accomplishments and struggles.
  • Maintains current knowledge of developments, techniques, and best practices in the STEAD School environment through active participation in training and development sessions or workshops.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience:

  • High school diploma

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students and educators.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of multiple, effective methods of instruction.
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of subjects and skills being taught.
  • Ability to encourage, positively reinforce, and provide constructive feedback to students to build confidence.
  • Proficient with Google or related software.

  2. Round Two: Candidate is invited to cross-Interview The STEAD Team
  3. RoundThree: Offers to Join Founding Team (pending background check clearance)

Mandatory Background Checks: In alignment with our commitment to student safety, all candidates are required to undergo a comprehensive background check, which includes reviewing criminal records and will require fingerprinting. Please be aware that certain findings in the background check may disqualify a candidate from employment in a school setting. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Convictions for offenses against children, including abuse or endangerment.

  • Drug-related offenses, particularly those involving the distribution or trafficking of controlled substances.
