The Electrical and Maintenance Technician is responsible for the layout, installation, and repair of facility electrical systems. Responsible for performing routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on building systems, equipment, and machinery within a facility, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical components, to ensure optimal functionality and safety, often responding to emergency repairs when necessary; requiring strong technical skills to diagnose issues and troubleshoot malfunctions effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lays out electrical wiring circuit location for new installations.
  • Calculates wire size requirements for various loads, motor horsepower requirements, and circuit loads.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, trouble shoots and makes necessary repairs on magnetic, electrical, and/or electronic controls on all available equipment. 
  • May repair electrical circuits and/or equipment on dead circuits. 
  • Requires the use of rigging and scaffolding. 
  • Operates any plant electrical equipment necessary in repairing installation work. 
  • Solders wires, assembling electrical parts and wires. 
  • Trouble shoots and repairs circuits with a voltage of 600V or less. 
  • Employees may input and retrieve required data into and from computer systems to complete their assigned tasks. 
  • Using blueprints, written procedures, and technical work orders to complete assigned work. 
  • Performing other work as assigned is incidental to primary job duties or other assigned work that may be performed safely using tools that are commonly available. 
  • Ability to work with and use all tools, materials, instruments, machines and equipment necessary to perform duties. 
  • Lead all aspects of electrical and lighting systems' general operation, repair, and maintenance. Perform new installations of equipment. 
  • Check, repair, and replace functional components of electrical and lighting systems. This includes valves, motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring, fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, and pipes. 
  • Assure that equipment is maintained and operated in a safe manner. 
  • Review historical maintenance records to develop proactive inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance schedules. 
  • Proficient in modifications and understanding electrical schematics and drawings. 
  • Identify and address minor plumbing issues such as leaks, clogs, and drips. 
  • Repair or replace fixtures, faucets, and pipes as needed. 
  • Experienced with operating and troubleshooting facility equipment such as air compressors, boilers, chillers, chilled water system, air handlers, HVAC systems, 
  • All other duties are assigned.

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to search internet to find technical information when required. 
  • Reliability, communications skills, workmanship, and good judgment are essential traits. 

Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a licensed electrician with journeyman's license in industrial, electrical construction and maintenance work 
  • Minimum of Journeyman's license 
  • Proficient operating all different types of hand tools. 
  • Ability to use Welding/ Cutting equipment is a plus.
  • OSHA 30 Certification plus.
  • Able to drive forklifts, scissor lifts and work from elevated platforms.
  • Experienced with 120v, up to 480v 3 phase.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position may require the ability to perform tasks that involve standing, walking, lifting 50+ lbs, bending, stooping, computer work, working with live electricity, climbing on roofs, navigating high distances, and other physical activities. Candidates should be able to meet these physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation.
