Job Overview

 

Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on-time with correct withholding and deductions. Duties of this position include payroll processing, reporting, and employee communication.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Assures that payroll-related transactions are processed in compliance with external and internal policies.
  • Performs actions necessary to track and determine regular, overtime pay, bonuses and special payments.
  • Processes and reviews tax withholdings, and other deductions.
  • Maintains knowledge of rules and laws which govern the payroll and benefits administration.
  • Reviews and processes payroll adjustments, including retro, paid time off and other time off.
  • Reconciles errors and maintains payroll records.
  • Fields and responds to payroll inquiries and resolves discrepancies as required.
  • Other payroll-related tasks as assigned

 

Skill and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Human Resources or related area preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of hourly payroll experience
  • In-depth knowledge of FLSA
  • (Preferred) Experience in manufacturing companies
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office - Excel especially with V-Lookups, Pivot Tables
  • Good understanding of payroll calculation such as overtime, shift payments, and others
  • Ability to maintain payroll records and prepare payroll reports
  • Ability to solve problems that routinely occur in payroll with standard procedures
  • Ability to communicate information about payroll that requires some explanation or interpretation
