Naamans Creek Country Manor is hiring a non-emergency transport Nurse Driver to join our team. The driver will need to provide basic care en route, and a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is the ideal candidate. No special license required! Naamans Creek is a 90-bed skilled nursing facility with a focus on short-stay residents. The Naamans Creek team has helped more than 1,086 people graduate from our rehabilitation program!
About the Role:
The Driver/Nursing position is a unique and vital role that combines non-emergency, professional driving responsibilities with essential nursing support to ensure the safe and comfortable transportation of patients. The primary objective is to provide reliable, timely, and compassionate transport services for individuals requiring medical attention, while also delivering basic nursing care during transit. This role demands a high level of attentiveness to patient needs, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to respond effectively to medical situations that may arise en route. The successful candidate will act as both a caregiver and a driver, facilitating seamless coordination between healthcare facilities and patients' homes or other destinations. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to patient well-being by ensuring their safe passage and comfort throughout their journey.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to operate vehicles safely in various conditions.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or equivalent nursing credential.
- Basic life support (BLS) or CPR certification.
- Ability to lift and assist patients with mobility challenges safely.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in non-emergency medical transportation or patient transport services.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or equivalent nursing credential.
- Familiarity with medical equipment used during patient transport.
- Knowledge of local healthcare facilities and routes to optimize travel time.
- Training in emergency response and patient handling techniques.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a vehicle to transport patients to and from medical appointments, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities.
- Provide basic nursing care and assistance to patients during transportation, including monitoring vital signs and administering first aid if necessary.
- Ensure all vehicles are clean, well-maintained, and stocked with necessary medical supplies and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and healthcare professionals to coordinate schedules and address patient needs.
- Maintain accurate records of patient transport, care provided, and any incidents or observations during transit.
Skills:
- The required driving skills ensure the safe and efficient transport of patients, requiring constant attention to road conditions and vehicle operation.
- Nursing skills are applied daily to monitor patient health, provide comfort, and respond to any medical needs during transit.
