Position Description

 

At a Glance

 

The Pass & Seymour business of Legrand is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for their Concord, NC office. Working with the engineering team, this intern will gain experience/knowledge with Automated Assembly, Injection Molding, Extrusion, and Stamping

 

Projects may include:

  • Designing components for equipment.
  • Assisting in troubleshooting existing automation.
  • Developing documentation packages.
  • Providing training for process technicians and floor personnel.

This position will work in an office/manufacturing environment, safety shoes will be required. 

 

What Will You Do?

  • Use SolidWorks to design components and assemblies for various projects to be built by our in-house tool shop or external vendors.
  • Design and build new operator workstations to integrate with automated assembly cells.
  • Design, build and install safety improvements to automated and manual equipment.
  • Fabricate various fixtures and other items for the manufacturing floor.
  • Participate in cross-functional Kaizan improvement teams.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education:   

  • Pursuing BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology (Junior/Senior).

Experience:  

  • Related course work.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Must be proficient in solid modeling software – SolidWorks preferred.
  • Must have good mechanical skills.
  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to efficiently summarize information in an effective manner. 
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheets, and e-mail.  Ability to use internet and web-based resources efficiently and effectively.
