LaFrance Corp is seeking a Research & Development Engineering Co-op to join the team at our Innovation Lab beginning in September 2026. This role offers an engineering student the opportunity to contribute to real product and process development projects in a hands-on environment.

The successful candidate will be curious, innovative, organized, and eager to take on new challenges. We are looking for a collaborative team member who demonstrates resourcefulness, follows projects through to completion, and has a strong desire to learn and continuously improve.

What You'll Do

  • Support the research and development of new materials, product lines, and processes for decorative and functional applications.
  • Support hands-on testing, data collection, and analysis to evaluate performance and durability.
  • Assist in results-focused trials, including setup, documentation, and execution under engineer supervision.
  • Collaborate with R&D engineers and Project Managers to develop process improvements and prototype concepts.
  • Summarize findings and present results through reports, data visualization, and presentations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow safety and quality protocols.

What We're Looking For

  • Pursuing B.S. degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Materials, Chemical, Robotics, or similar).
  • 3rd or 4th year co-op student.
  • Curious, analytical, and eager to apply classroom learning to real-world R&D challenges in a fast-paced, collaborative, hands-on environment.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects to their timely conclusion; ability to function with various teams and departments; strategic thinking; and an ability to visualize and achieve results.
