Position Summary

The Site Surveyor is responsible for conducting pre-installation residential site assessments to ensure accurate project design and a smooth installation process. This role serves as the critical link between the sales team and the installation crew — verifying site conditions, capturing measurements, identifying potential challenges, and ensuring every project is set up for success before it reaches the install team.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed on-site residential solar assessments including roof measurements, structural evaluation, and shading analysis

• Capture accurate photos, measurements, and site data using industry tools.

• Evaluate site damages and take proper photos

• Assess roof condition, type, pitch, orientation, and structural integrity for solar readiness

• Identify potential obstructions, shading issues, setback requirements, and utility access points

• Document attic access, rafter spacing, roof penetration feasibility, and conduit routing paths

• Verify site conditions match the original sales proposal and flag any discrepancies

• Communicate findings clearly to the design and engineering team for accurate system design

• Coordinate with homeowners to schedule and complete site visits professionally

• Ensure all survey documentation meets company standards

• Support permitting efforts by providing accurate site data and photos as needed

• Travel to multiple residential job sites daily within the assigned branch territory

Qualifications

Required:

• 1+ years of experience in residential solar site surveys, construction estimating, or related field assessments

• Familiarity with residential roofing systems, electrical panels, and basic structural components

• Ability to safely access rooftops and work at heights using proper fall protection

• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills

• Comfortable using tablets and smartphones

• Valid driver's license with clean driving record

• Ability to work independently and manage a daily route of site visits

• Strong communication skills — professional interaction with homeowners

Preferred:

• Knowledge of NEC code requirements for residential solar installations

• Familiarity with local AHJ permitting requirements in California

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

• Bilingual English/Spanish

• Experience with residential electrical systems or MPU (Main Panel Upgrade) assessments

Physical Requirements

• Ability to climb ladders, work on rooftops safely, and comfortable working multi-story sites

• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs (equipment, ladders)

• Standing, walking, bending, and kneeling throughout the workday
